Meet Linchpin’s President, Aaron Ware

Aaron is the President of Linchpin, but before that, he was an engineer with a focus on developing websites and tools for Automotive Dealerships and Manufacturers.

Q: What is your career focus (besides being the boss)?

A: I lead an amazing team that creates awesome digital experiences for our clients.

Q: What do you like about the work you do here?

A: All the things.

Q: What do you believe your best strength is within the company?

A: I’ll leave that up to the team to decide.

Q: How would *you* describe yourself with three words?

A: Firm but fair.

Q: How would your friends describe you?

Firm but fair.

A: I don’t know how to describe it, I can only give an scenario. To my close friends I am the following… If a group of us are going on a mountain hike with a slim path, I am the person that will trek to the front of the line to make sure we are on course. I’ll also fall back to the end of the line to make sure everyone gets to the goal and grab a pack and give someone help if needed. I’ll bounce between the 2 until we reach end. My Dad (and his military experience) taught me this early on in life and it’s something that has stuck with me to this day.

Q: What is currently your computer background?

A: Solid charcoal grey background and a shit ton of icons.

Q: If money didn’t matter, what would you do all day?

A: Hangout with my Family and work. I am a workaholic. I need to be doing something, but I would definitely put more time into my family.

Q: What have you gained from working at Linchpin?

I find that I am a more thoughtful person regarding my decisions as I’ve gotten older

A: Patience. I was definitely more of a “shoot from the hip” kind of person when I was younger. I find that I am a more thoughtful person regarding my decisions as I’ve gotten older. I also make sure I am putting others before myself.

Q: What is your biggest pet peeve?

A: Laziness, complacency and settling for less. I know it said biggest, but all of them annoy me. My mother instilled in me a very strong work ethic. She told me “Even though you have your own business, you are Chief cook and bottle washer”. Meaning that you are never too good to do what has to be done.

Q: What makes you bored?

A: Business related paperwork. Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

Q: Tell me about something you would happily do again.

A: Have kids.

Q: What are your three most overused words or phrases?

A: “Right on”, “Horse Shit”, “I’m sorry, what?”

Q: What are two things you have with you at all times?

A: My phone and a small pocket knife. My dad always has one on him and I’ve carried that on as I have gotten older.

Q: How would you define success?

A: Still working at it. I’ll let you know when I get there.

Q: What advice would you give to your 18 year old self?

A: Cool it bro! You’re a hot head. Also invest in Apple, Amazon, Google and few other companies. Everything else from there will be smooth sailing.

Q: What is the first thing on your bucket list?

A: I don’t think about things like this. I’ll leave that for when I retire.

Q: Favorite activities on your day off?

A: Family related activities. I devote too much of the week to work. I enjoy family time.

Q: What is one thing you can’t live without?

A: I should say family, but honestly it’s chocolate anything.

Q: What does true leadership mean to you?

I focus on how details and feedback affect the end result.

A: In it’s simplest form; don’t micromanage. Leadership to me means making decisions that relate to the direction and overarching plan of the business. For individual projects, I focus on how details and feedback affect the end result. I believe it’s important to allow individuals and teams to decide intricacies of how tasks are accomplished. I think constructive criticism and challenging overarching ideas is great, but be sure to give flexibility and freedom to allow your team to solve the problems.
